While visiting NYC for February Fashion Festivities a few weeks ago, I popped into Big Drop, this cute lil boutique in Soho. I was trying on some sale white jeans (I told you I was an addict) and a few pricey number just for kicks. Well, this one shirt was so frickin’ cute I almost did a one-woman hold-up on the joint.

He used to be my Romeo...

It was flowy silk the richest mocha-brown with orange and bronze beading adding a little bit of flair. One glance at the price tag ($295) had me humming some Biggie- “It was all a dream…”

But for (more) kicks, I took a peek at the tag to see who was the maker of this gorgeous slice of sartorial heaven- What Comes Around Goes Around. “Hmm…whatever,” I sighed, depressed that this top and I were star-crossed lovers…doomed to be apart for eternity!

Well, the style Gods were looking down on young Mimi, because the moment I dropped out of Big Drop I met the fashion equivalent of Juliet’s Sweet Nurse- a flyer for a What Comes Around Goes Around SAMPLE SALE.

Though I was not reunited with my silky Romeo, I fell in love with a black leather pencil skirt that was (be still my heart) $25!

Star-crossed no more, I had found a delicious, funky find that I would wear until the last chill of winter. And what’s more? I had been desperately seeking leather ever since I saw my Goddess Gwyneth Paltrow in a similar version at the premiere of her new grub show “Spain…On the Road Again.”

“Young hearts, run free!” Ok, ok…I’m going a little wild with the Romeo+Juliet references, but I am just soooo frickin’ ecstatic about my new leather skirt. Wifebeater and blazer for Workin’ Gal Workin’ it. Matrix Mimi with a sleek black turtle and tall boots. Sexy casual with a Hane’s white tee and suede booties.
