TDF Fridays…Do You Remember September?

The Coldest Wintour

The Coldest Wintour

When I was a wee tot,  September was the most magnificent month simply because it signified my birthday (which according to moi, is a national holiday). I loved the cake, the balloons, the gifts. And most importantly, the birthday fanfare. I was Queen for a day, Goddess of the world.

But as the years went on and my OCD (Obsessive Chic Disorder) grew stronger, I realized that September was special  beyond my own birth. It signified the beginning of the fashion season, much like the start of the school year. But instead of stencils and trapperkeepers (Bahaha! Remember those?), the necessary accessories were now stilettos and Thakoon!

I will always remember every detail of my first September Fashion Week- standing uber-stalker-style outside the tents, staying at the subtly chic Library Hotel, catching glimpses of the most faint-worthy ensembles…o the list goes on and on!

Well, thanks to director R.J. Cutler, the ninth month has reached a new level of fame with the documentary The September Issue. It is an intimate look at the production of the September edition of Vogue. Sparing no snide comments, backstabbing and…”creative” differences, this film makes The Devil Wears Prada look like an episode of “Barney and Friends.”  I was lucky enough to catch an early screening, but the official release date is August 28. Do not miss this film…or else face DEATH at the bony hands of Ms. Anna Wintour herself.
