Blame it on last month’s trip to the actual Melrose , or perhaps my near-decade long love of the original MP gang (Lexi was my homegrrrrrl), but I am obsessed with the new Melrose Place. I watch every week- real time, not DVR; I have defended its campy wonderfulness to a whole slew of “good TV watchers” (LAME-Os); and I have a must-keep appointment with my “I ♥ Ella Simms” chat group! Ok, so the last one isn’t really a chat group, more like hilarious emails/tweets between me and my cousin; but you’re understanding my commitment!
Well despite the paper-thin storylines… med-school student turned prosty-tute (puh-lease); sometimes cringe-worthy over(yet under)acting; and all too frequent cameos by original cast members (NO ONE WAS CURIOUS ABOUT WHAT JOSIE BISSETT HAS BEEN UP TO!), a huge part of what makes Mimi keep MP’in is the haute costuming! From Ella to Lauren to even old as Jerusalem dirt Amanda Woodward, MP’s styling is fresh, hip and always envy-inducing.
I swear I almost passed out in delight when I spotted Katie Cassidy rockin’ my beloved House of Harlow Starburst ring!
I absolutely die for all of Stephanie Jacobsen’s prosty wear…there is something so wrong with that statement…but especially this chartreuse ruffled number. Hooker Hauteness ;) And the only thing that made Ashlee Simpson-Wentz’s scenes even remotely non-fatal were her skintight chic dresses. That Simpson Sister could worrrrrk it in some Leger! The only MPer whose style I’m so so-so about is hippie-dippie, goodie-two-shoes Riley Richmond. That whole “save the world with my ♥ of gold” aint really Mimi’s style.
Now onto Mimi’s most MAJOR Melrose moments:
Now, HighEnders! I’m not telling y’all to watch tonight- MP is definitely an acquired taste- but I do encourage you to look towards the tube for a little style inspiration!
