Short(s)top

Since my middle-school days of rolling up the waist of my Soffees, I have been a die-hard loyalist to tiny, ittttty-bitty, nearly non-existent shorts. Remember, the doll clothes?

But lately, something has inspired me to give a chance to a longer hem…hmmm, that means more than 1”. Awww, Mimi all grown up!

This love for long has carried into the chilly months- just a few weeks ago, I rocked olive chino shorts with my fave black blazer and my go-to riding boots. I felt hip, stylish, fresh…and covered! Who knew wearing clothes would cause one to feel so clothed?!?!?!

And when I saw the flawless Kate Moss in my ensemble’s more HighEnd twin, I knew a post was born!

So all right, chicsters, let’s get to the loooong and shrt of things. Here are a few ideas for incorporating shorts (not just denim cutoffs- tres passé) into your winter wear:

You can pair any of these amazing options with a sleek black turtleneck, dressed-down denim shirt or cozy knit sweater. For a casual look, go for tall, flat boots (a heeled boot will cue the Pretty Woman theme song). Go evening with a sexy, but simple pump in classic suede. And the opaque tights should just be understood- we don’t want non-fashion folks casting even more confused (judgey) looks over this seasonal dare!

All right, HighEnders, get shorty!
