i wore a red/white striped top and a red leather skirt yesterday. it was july 25. i live in nyc. i wore black suede the week before.

just throwing out these facts so you know that i live life in the “extra” column.

i put on one more piece of jewelry before leaving the house. i’ve never met a red lip that wasn’t work appropriate. i also own half a dozen jumpsuits.

but i hardly wear make-up and rotate the same over the top pieces weekly. so i’m extra while being a little less. nahmean?

when i discovered zoe saldana’s harpers bazaar arabia photoshoot from last fall, i knew i had found the perfect mix of over-under.

the brocade and lace and goldleaf and dramatic lengths are only more striking set against simple hair and barely-there makeup. it’s as if she left her morning pilates class and decided to put on a few ballgowns for giggles. and my favorite part is zoe rockin’ these looks without so much as batting an eyelash to prove that small girls are capable of owning extra! we don’t need a little more meat on our bones to work the look.
