Very fun questionnaire via Half Past Seven Home.

How do you like to entertain? What is the vibe (where, feeling, how)?
Often and grandly! I live to have people over to my house— HT, as we call it colloquially. My go-to is a dinner party for however many can fit around my great-grandmother’s dining room table. I love an expertly set table with my blue & white dishes, coordinating cloth napkins, candlesticks and the most adorable vintage crystal salt cellar. The vibe is super relaxed and easy, but elevated. I don’t want my guests to want for anything. Hosting is an opportunity to treat your guests and yourself like absolute royalty.

What are you serving?
A one-pot meal— minestrone is my go-to for my girls’ dinner group, spaghetti + meatballs is a new fave and if I’m just going for it, I will do a lasagna! The only starter I usually do is a great salad. Maybe I am old school, but all of this appetizer business is too much for me. I prefer to do one thing really really well and then do something super simple for dessert. I once served cbd gummies after dinner- lolllz!

What are you sipping?
As particular as I am about all the other things, the wine or cocktail is totally flexible for me. Whatever people bring or I have on hand. I am more concerned about what we’re drinking out of— stemless almost never, and always water glasses set on the table. I like for people to never need for a thing— it’s right at your fingertips, my love!

What are you wearing?
I wear a full outfit when hosting, great shoes included. Again, I like to indulge in the moment. Normally, I will go ribbed tank, slvrlake denim and a pair of my Ann Mashburn buckle mules.

What are you listening to?
Charlotte Gainsburg has a live album that is a phenomenal dinner party soundtrack. I am also obsessed with classic Motown— Smokey, call me haha. I almost always have music playing @ HT, so I just rock with whatever is already on.

How do you make your guests feel special? How do you make them feel at home?
In short, I try to anticipate every need. I like to assure my guests that I have made all the decisions, which allows everyone to simply relax and enjoy the evening. I also make it a rule to never get too worked up over the small things. As long as the food is delicious, drinks are going, conversation is close— we are doing well!

If you are hosting a dinner, what is your go-to centerpiece?
Flowers are a must + unscented taper candles in my green glass candlesticks. If I’m having my regular girls dinner, angel cards, crystals and/or some palo santo always make their way to the table.

How do you end a celebration?
Late! Something about my dining room table encourages people to stay a very long time, and I love it. I’m not a serve coffee person, but I will keep the wine flowing and if I reach for the tequila or vodka, just know the tone of the evening is about to change, and fast!

Let’s play this or that…

  • Charger OR Placemat: placemat
  • Stemmed OR Stem-less: stemmed, forever!
  • Red OR White: both, combo, rose, any! I love wine
  • Tablecloth OR Bare: Runner!
  • Votives OR Taper Candle: tapers
  • Formal OR Informal: I love to dress down formal place settings— my entire goal for an evening at my house is for people to feel relaxed, but cared for.

tell me your entertainment go-to’s. xx
