more life, more HT/hotel selfies.
i have been enjoying summer dressing immensely. whether for a dinner date, Bookclub or a borderline debaucherous Tuesday pm with the girls; Mimi has been turning the looks, hunny!
all I want to do is slam my laptop shut and be in the streets.
my sartorial ode to summer 2023, which is roughly 48 hours old, but already giving me everything I need.
- When I tell you this bubblegum pink ca. 2005 Banana Republic halter top is my hero piece of the season! The Gen Z girlies wish they could. I uncovered this beauty during an excavation at my parent’s house, and I have never felt more blessed. It’s so borderline out of style that I can’t help but to love it more, especially when paired with equally throwback hot pink J. Crew cargoes and Jack Roger’s kitten heels that are all but extinct.
- Lace pj top + black ribbed bike shorts + Chanel tweed = a weekday dinner home run. Put me in, Coach!
- This Scottish leather jacket is starting to be a MF problem. I cannot take it off! Like, was in Nash for meetings last week and rocked it for two days in 75-80 degree weather. It is so versatile and perfectly cut, I am now resorting to just piling it on top of whatever mini dress/skirt I’m wearing and surrendering to the power of well-placed vintage.
- For a 9:30 pm bar sit at your local watering hole, simple but sexy is always the best bet. I threw on an all-star ALC ribbed bodysuit, my cousin’s destructed jeans now cutoffs, my faux Isabel Marant wrap belt and my beloved aunt’s ruby red mule sandals. That Tommy Girl brought up the rear, as always, giving it all she has!
- The tamest look of the bunch, my Staud Sokho sweater dress is the ultimate Steady Eddie. The neutral palette and lean, but sexy lines work as well for a weeknight dinner hosting at home as for a business lunch (just don’t tell my Mom). It’s so classically feminine that the close fit reads 1950’s ladylike and adding classic Chanel tan/black seals the deal. See #3 re: stalker of vintage leather jacket.
- Only I would find utter joy in pairing a demure, bow-print 80’s midi skirt with a barely visible black crop top and a body chain. Guys, I added a denim jacket, so just fucking relax. Meanwhile the Bottegas were pulling a Tommy by upleveling everything in sight.
- The Shirt’s editor blouse is for the girliest of girls and the perfect pink of mine makes me want to wear it non-stop. Paired with my slvrlakes and the greatest leopard boots of 2023, she does her best “I’m not a girl, not yet a woman.”
- The best for last, if Mimi was resurrected as an outfit. Every component is who I am to my core— flirty miniskirt, unabashedly feminine but down for a gooood time, high heeled mules, a TBT of a bag and unfussy hair and makeup. This look is all of my faves colliding into one another and I will be rocking verbatim for London in two weeks. To quote my personal post-wear review, “That’s a girl seeking a major uplevel. Upgrade me straight away!”
Y’all, I‘ll end with the dynamic revelation that summer.is.just.beginning. Please tell me you are letting yourself be washed away in the major luxury of warm weather and increasingly carefree days.
Xx.
