we all know that i am a summer girl queen! like forever and ever.

but even i can concede that december is the king of months. it is my favorite of the twelve because it offers many, many dichotomous aspects within its 31 days– an ending and opening all at once; super-speed, but also a slowdown; the flow of giving and receiving.

i love considering the year’s highs and lows as we enter the christmas season. nearly anything bitter can be thought of in a sweeter light with the holidays in the background. though i have had some emotionally rocky holidays (hello, multiple holiday break-ups, semi-existential crises, pandemic-induced micro holidays), most of my 37 christmases have been unabashedly fabulous.

christmas 2022 was one of those years. i was finally back in my home, celebrating and welcoming my favorite people into my favorite place. the endless celebrations gave glimpses of pre-2020. we could finally rejoice together without panic and anxiety.

at one point during our cousins’ secret santa, spaghetti & meatballs dinner, i almost burst into tears with happiness. “i am soooo close to having every single, fucking thing i want in this life– with an overwhelming capacity for more,” i mused to myself, glancing around my great-grandmother’s dining room table overflowing with my best friends/family.

2023 feels like i’m inching ever closer, with so much gratitude for what is on its way.

the state of the world is fraught, all news remains outright jarring; but let’s take one moment to revel in how dec 1-31 can shine its unwavering light on us all. whether you are religious or not, we can still agree that miracle season is upon us–

and how lucky is that?

• beautiful black girl in bows. so girly and femme, i’m obsessed!
• rosie on a pj. need i say anything more?
• a scottish angel face moment. my pink lace was so flirty and a bit irreverent for 40 degree weather, but i was doing my best victorian barbie!
• rihanna’s entire face. the end.
• i would totally bow a cake! so pretty and simple and rustic.
• jasmine tookes in fur and that giant diamond is the living, breathing embodiment of my 2024 manifestation!
• speaking of manifesting, i am firmly in my beckham era. i don’t even know who i love more of the two?
• will never regret wearing my skims x swarovski mesh bra as a shirt in 30 degree london. p.s. i am still coughing!
• love a kisser boy! (also obsessed with simone ashley and her gorgeous brown self)
