I can’t even remember the last time a red carpet inspired me to take a second look, let alone write something.
Movies are back, baby!
What I appreciate the most about these looks is that it’s gorgeous, famous people playing the role. No quirks, no overwrought details, just glamour. I don’t know about you, but I had a week that is sending me in search of even a glimmer of something beautiful.
The absolute standout smackdab in the middle is Lupita N’yongo in the most spectacular platinum blue Armani. Every detail is significant, which is the mark of a truly expert look. Gahhh, I will be thinking about the crystals melting into feathers until the end of time.
Other looks of note—
- Matt Bomer, the lone man on the list, is just overwhelmingly beautiful in perfect traditional black tie. And this from me, a woman who all but has a PhD in good-looking men!
- Kirsten Dunst is walking MPG, and I have loved her since Interview with the Vampire because what is more popular than starring with Brad, Tom, Antonio and Christian in the 90’s?
- Greta Lee is the fashion girlie of the red carpet season, putting me at ease that NYC is being well-represented in Hollywood. Always, Justice for New York!
- Camila Alves declares, “I am the center of the McCounaghey Universe” in beyond-chic black and the most stunning Bulgari serpent diamonds.
- America did perhaps her most pitch-perfect Barbie homage of her awards season in pink Versace that is all I am Woman, hear me roar!
- Eva and Emma are just two Steady Eddies. Kudos to their stylists for letting excellent atelier work take center-stage.
- Rita Moreno is spirited and gorgeous and reminds me of my late grandmother Modeane, who was the most fantastic woman to ever exist. Their shared fearlessness and total disregard for the passing of time inspire me to keep going by any means necessary!
That was soooo fun! I’d like to thank the Academy and movies and fashion! Xx
