We don’t talk nearly enough about fashion synchronicities. When you look up and have worn 8 variations of red, pink and orange in a week. Or when your brain exclusively craves snakeskin and croc accessories, from belt to purse to shoe. It’s part self-fulfilling prophecy (the same bag/jacket left in the entryway for a few days) and part subconscious styling. Wait, did I just trademark ™️ something?
During my ridiculously fabulous birthday trip to London— I knowww, I know, enough with the UK— I absentmindedly wore lace a few outfits in a row. And it’s not like I just so happened to pack a lot of it, because I just so happened to pack almost my entire closet!
Now, I am well informed that the lingerie as daytime wear is a very powerful trend, and I am proud to say that I have been on the frontlines. Hello, Irish lace nightgown worn every 3-4 weeks! But the specificity of wearing traditional lace is MPG meets Disney Princess meets fashion cool girl. Umm…my entire brand, correct? Onto my Lace Looks x London!
- Pink + Orange Plunge-Front Lace is the look with a capital L. Good thing I opted for just that on my actual birthday— paired with pink Carhartt trousers, platform boots and my trusty Armstrong’s leather jacket! I strutted through the Naomi Campbell exhibition at the V&A Museum (a must-see!) like I was a Super myself.
- Who said one pink lace outfit in a single day was enough? Not me! For my beyond incredible birthday dinner/all-nighter at Chiltern Firehouse, I went for corseted lace in the girliest hot pink. It was giving full-blown Victorian Barbie and I acted like HER for the entire 7 hours we spent at Chiltern. Once again, I roughed it up with black leather and my no-fail black suede Prada sandals.
- The third lace option was my most Mimi yet— the infamous unlined lace capris that can barely be called pants. Actually, no one has ever called them that but me, so… We were having a 9:30pm dinner at THE Italian hotspot in Mayfair (what a dreamy sentence!), so I decided to give those Brits a healthy dose of Manhattan. In a nutshell, they loved it! I paired these ridiculous PaNTs with an old flame’s perfectly shrunken knit, a top-handle bag and the above Pradas + leather. My sister was in shock that I was bringing my semi-bare behind across the pond, but also has she ever met me?
Ok, now the lace things that are not yet in my closet, but need to be! Would die to lady up those absurd lace capris with these very proper pumps; the little peek of lace in the babiest blue of all time would be perfect with oversized denim and some slouchy boots; I see your pink lace and raise you red— so good from Revolve, which is the motherland of well-priced, fun, sexy lingerie options; do I dare go here? my family would disown me!; lace for normies; lace for richies.
Clearly, you’re now all-in on subconscious styling! What trend are you wearing on repeat? Xx
Shopping P.S. Loop Generation (bag in elevator shot) is a fantastic London consignment shop in Chelsea, where I uncovered some soon-to-be-shared Chanel pumps for > $400. The store is big, bright, artful and across the street from Daphne’s, another of my UK musts!
