Well, look at me on Volume Three! I love this little list because it not only forces me to keep up with the series, but I also have to post in between so The Shop x Mimi is not just list after list of what’s working. Although, would that be the worst thing ever?
- Temple Bar in NYC was a random discovery last February after The Nines was not showing enough VIP recognition at the door. Don’t you know who I was in Meatpacking ca. 2012?! We stomped away and stumbled on that little lizard on the wall and a very kind doorman. “Just go take a look-look…” Sir, you understand me, marry me ASAP! The vibes were immaculate and I discovered this past Thursday that the margaritas are best in class. They come in giant highballs with a side of legit movie theater popcorn. My look-look has turned into love-love!
- I am normally so snobby about my caffeine sources– as expected. A Keurig machine turns me inside-out, so one would think that drive-thru coffee would also be a non-negotiable. Enter Scooter’s to change the game. There is a location conveniently to/from Pilates so I have been scooting through for a post-workout treat. The almond milk iced-latte is legit and they have a punch card. Keep up, Starbucks! This is like my Juicy Couture devotion– slightly tacky, but also very endearing.
- Paradise on Hulu is brakes-off good television! First off, who knew we needed the hot-man combo of James Marsden and Sterling K. Brown?! They are like the ebony and ivory of a very good, very kinky fantasy. **splashes face** The pace is fantastic and the second to last episode had me gripped, freaking and contemplating how close our world is to fully going off the deep-end. Ummm, maybe super close? Another point, the dialogue is real, especially between the Black characters, and the deployment of the f-word is HBO-levels good.
- Okkkk, ok, the viral Biodance mask really does work. I used it on Monday night after my derm called me “kinda dry” and I woke up “kinda really hot.”
- I have been blasting Tate McRae’s latest album so much that I asked a friend if we were “Taties.” His response– wtf are you talking about? It is all pre-spring, pop hot girl goodness and I will never stop making up my own choreography to “2 Hands.”
- I generally avoid Chelsea Market unless a Miznon drop-in is absolutely dire, because the bumbling tourist of it all is simply too much. Last week, I not only went into CM but braved Artists/Fleas (courage!) and discovered two incredible independent vendors. Beautélier has excellent fragrances that range from the unavoidable santal reference to really great musks and florals. Being the good Southern girl that I am, I have been on the hunt for a magnolia scent for years. The brand’s scent Sweet Day is the perfect amalgamation of feminine botanicals, crisp grass and smoky amber for a sexier variation on floral. Dubbed the “best hoodies in the world,” Old School Rookie is a dope knits brand with excellent regional/sports-themed embroidery. We all know I am a sucker for a NYC motif, so left with a heavyweight tee with a tribute to the Yankees and Lady Liberty. I have already worn it twice, paired with a miniskirt and fur, so safe to say, OSR has found a home with me. My mom has already placed her order for both!
- In direct contrast to the Paradise Marsden-Brown mash-up mentioned above, I have given up television for Lent. Biblical, right? It’s only been two days but I have immediately felt the shift. I am way less stimulated and have committed to doing more and loafing less. I currently have a couple audiobooks on rotation (Camino Winds is classic good Grisham) and have spent the past three nights out! Spring/Summer, brace yourselvesssss!
Ok, that’s enough for 3! More to come. Xx
