…We’re going shopping!
I was just remarking to my sister and Addie that I have relegated my spending exclusively to things with which I am completely obsessed. Taking a shopping pause in the spring– along with micro corporate boycotts against Target, Wal-Mart and the like– has helped me to truly recalibrate my consumption.
Yet and still. With all that said, I will forever be a Shopgirl through and through!
I invite you to cozy up with your iPad, phone or device of choice and take a peek at the current sales and retail happenings. There are some good ones!
- Reformation has been texting me all week about their 50% off sale. From their signature sexy-girl dresses to pre-fall sweaters, Ref has it all!
- ACT NOW! So much phenomenal Estelle glassware on deep sale. I adore these lowball glasses!
- I cannot vouch for the fit/form of Staud’s new denim, but the look of it is divine, along with these perfect almost-sold-out shorts. Imagine, my Tommy Girl having some new family members– a thrill!
- Stine Goya is a new-to-me brand, discovered on a jaunt through fabulous, Memphis boutique Kittie Kyle. SG has fun–with a capital F— dresses and separates that are perfect for dinner dates and early fall weddings. This with the matching pants, this quirky woven and this darling dress are some of my faves!
- I’ve been Shopbop hearting! Just counting down until the inevitable LBD weekend sale…
- In a shock that reverberated throughout this group’s text thread, our beloved independent jewelry brand Daphine is closing its doors. They are in the final days of their closeout sale, and I am still beside myself that this is it! To quote some of my favorite Frank Sinatra as I look back on 2023, it was a very good year. This bangle set is still crossing my mind, along with so many fab rings and earrings.
- Random AF, but I discovered the greatest bbq sauce of all time this weekend at my local butcher– Memphis-brand Prince Ruby’s in the spicy variety. I am not even a bbq girl, but PR’s is the real deal, chock full of actual spices and mustards and yumminess, rather than sugar and gums and corn syrup. I made a quick coleslaw and piled some Ruby-fied rotisserie chicken on top, and had a perfect protein-forward lunch. Shop local as much as humanly possible!
- I have been following Rob Brezney’s astrological musings for many, many years. Before astro signs were being plastered on any non-moving consumer good. When it was still madcap to devote your purpose to studying the stars and how the movement of the earth, sun and moon affect all of us. Back when no one knew their sun, rising and moon. In light of the recent global horrors (~ca. 2015), Rob has gotten way more outspoken about his political/social beliefs, which encouraged me to devote a hard-earned $5 every month to his newsletter. If you’re into weekly astro readings with a side of cultural reflection, please support his work. Fun fact– Rob was my first introduction to the world of Substack, at least three years ago!
- A smattering of things I am wanting for October and on…
- seeking: fab fitness shrug
- Alright already, I give in!
- Between Sept-Feb, my face is about a 1,000 different shades. I may need this palette!
- I don’t not need new cashmere.
- To regain my Cher-like lengths. If I could turn back tiii-iime!
- Paired with a mini and my Lila boots– divine! Also the TB private sale is chock full of goodies!
Pics clockwise from right: Joe Alwyn looking like the fashion snack that got away; the Salomon colorway I desperately (do not) need; Adwoa Aboah, who has been one of my fashion North Stars for years; Me, rocking Daphine’s wildly spectacular Antoinette necklace RIP; Vogue’s lovely round-up of Goddess Cher’s best hairstyles; Staud denim as only Staud can denim; a vintage RL look that needs a right-away resurrection; I can’t even talk about this Gucci bag that is haunting my life via Leandra Medine; some great manifesting prompts from Roxie Nafousi; Black Excellence meets Ralph Lauren; Vogue again with a spot-on assessment of “host as the next influencer;” a divine drop of butter from Ref.
Well, I hope I have inflicted you with a case of the shoppies! What are you adding to cart this month? Drop it in the comments! Xx
