I don’t know what it is about aviators, but as soon as I pull on my fave pair, I swear someone cues up Kenny Loggins’ “Danger Zone.” I feel like a badass, a Maverick (thanks, Palin!)…a SHOP Gun even?

Well, HighEnders, what better way to face the sunny days of summer than with a chic pair of aviators? They’re a classic style than can add some edge to even the girliest ensemble. And as a metallics junky, I am obsessed with the glitzy gold or sparkly silver frames. But the greatest thing about this style of shades is that you can find them in nearly any store. Whether during a Cheetos run at Walgreens or a on a more couture trip to Saks.

Though many aviator guides will lead you to twenty different Ray-Ban styles (BORING), I am giving you a list that is funky, fresh and combines the HighEnd with the low:

I will forever treasure the day I got my first piece of David Yurman- a beautiful smoky quartz ring. Therefore what better compliment to my Yurmie baby than the totally TDF “Buckle” aviators. With its 20K gold horsebit detail (a Yurman signature), these shades would be another jewel to add to my collection.

Look into my F21's

You’re gonna think I’m lying, but my favorite pair of aviators were $6 from Forever21. They’re classic metal with white lacquer details and have been with me for some of my best memories- first NYC fashion week, MarchMiamiMadness, couture cruise down SoCal’s Robertson Blvd. So why not grab your own under $10 pair and start humming “Thanks for the Memories.” F21 (my affectionate nickname) is the perfect place for trying trendy styles- rainbow colors, two-tones, plastic frames- without an ounce of shopper’s remorse.

For those of you who DIIIEEE for vintage ala Lady Zoe, have I got a pair of av’s for you- Christian Dior circa the sexy seventies in classic tortoiseshell with a little gold glitz. I swear, these shades are so frickin’ chic, they’ll have you doing The Hustle.

Not to upset the other distinguished designers (sorry Yurms, ya know I <3 ya), but new celeb-fave brand Carrera has a monopoly on the aviator game. Creamy white resin? Got ’em. Classic black? Well, of course. Trendy bi-colored? You betcha! Now, this is the kind of diversity a fashionista can get into.
