SoFlo

Y’all, I made my glorious return to So. Florida! After a handful of incredibly random work jaunts to the likes of Tampa and …Jacksonville, Mimi went home to Dade County.

My closest girlfriends and I planned this epic “everyone’s turning 40” trip, and we crash-landed on the Bungalows in Key Largo. To say this upscale all-inclusive was not quite prepared for a bunch of rowdy Memphis girls is the understatement of 2026. Within four hours of being on-property, we had ordered our weight in shrimp Caesar salads + skinny margs and completely commandeered karaoke night.

It was a near-perfect week of incredible Florida sunbathing, breakfast by the water, mahj by the water, more skinnies…by the water and pure chill vibes. I was intentional about packing only a carry-on (**gestures toward DHS shutdown) and understanding that most days, I would only be partly covered anyway!

For starters, the weather was impeccable. I’m talking L72/H78 every single day. I relied on a formula of Jade Swim bikinis + vintage cutoffs + zip-up hoodie for day and a GOT (Going Out Top, please keep up) and something mini for evening with a smattering of extras. It was such fun prep work for Spring/Summer 2026 and allowed me to play around with some looks that will be appearing pool/barside in Memphis and frolicking through the streets of Manhattan.

So, let’s get into the fits!

Day One— the single time I actually worked out because see above re: skinny margaritas and endless shrimp! I broke out a near-decade old Beach Riot jumpsuit in a shade of pink so electric, I’m sure they could see me from the moon (heyyy Artemis II!) I turned quite a few heads at breakfast, but was really just setting the tone for the remainder of the week. For the pool, I went with my fave mocha brown top and hot coral string bikini bottoms. Dinner was where I really had fun, busting out an old Intermix slinky bodysuit in sherbet orange with my babygirl Simkhai sequin skirt and beloved Jack Roger’s kitten heels. The pièce de résistance was my Surfstyle windbreaker draped over my shoulders. I was full NYC Barbie Visits Ken at the Beach!

Day Two— my favorite beach look of the trip involved a sky blue bra top and mango red high-cut bottoms, unbuttoned tan cutoffs and…plot twist, a Juicy Couture zip-up. It was soooo Cali of me, I almost dove into the ocean and just swam west! Dinner that night was my Eve of Eight Skinny Margs, so the fact that I had on any article of clothing is a miracle. My cream lace Bebe halter top made an appearance paired with white barrel jeans and pops of fun/color on the accessories— huge gold earrings, an old Tory B. cuff, red strappy sandals and my Tommy girl (the best girl) rounded everything out!

Day Three— more lounging, more beach, more skinnies, more looks! I rocked a bright orange top + incredibly cheeky brown bottoms (nude alert) with my oversized GAP hoodie and white swishy pants. It was real striptease energy at the chaise lounges! I did some of my best tanning that day– perhaps because I was so underclothed. My nighttime look was a bit preppier with another old Intermix top in ribbed baby blue and saffron yellow silk shorts from Julia Amory. I wore my first actual heels of the trip and layered on the necklaces. The lobster tail as big as my thigh almost popped my shorts, but man, well worth it! Beauty note— for every pm look, I went with a very sleek slicked back bun and loads of blush and mascara. Hero blush + current fave mascara. I wanted everyone to see via my glowing chocolate skin that I had put in work at the pool! Addie brought me new Soltan sunscreen, so I was slathering that on religiously. **in invisible ink– I was also sneaking little pumps of her Merit Great Skin serum**

Day Four was all about the Miami return! A trio of us packed into the Betsy Hotel, which is tucked on the far end of South Beach, so we could make a slow transition back into society. As if Miami, FL constitutes as a real benchmark for the real world. After a stroll through The Webster (need everything STAT), Addie and I posted up at Blue Ribbon Sushi for mounds of fresh tuna and salmon and a bottle of rose. For dinner at Las Lap, I decided on my fine-gauge “cardigan” from Jigsaw and my new leather/suede miniskirt. It was an unexpected banger of a combo for a windy, humid night on the beach. I went full throttle on the jewels, adding to my necklace stack perfectly SCBABT hoops acquired from Kith that afternoon. Order them now and just prepare to be in them until August!

Pre-Summer Shopping–

  • Dying for kitten heel thong sandals! Actually perishing over these Proenzas, would be very happy with these Refs or Stauds.
  • While I don’t believe in the prices of lab diamonds, I do firmly believe in wanting one of these chic and chunky Dorsey rings! Meg Strachan just really knows what she’s doing.
  • Ordering Lucille Clifton’s new poetry collection At the Gate. Tucking into a few lines of poetry first thing in the morning is so much more civilized than that blasted phone.
  • Eagerly awaiting the Jade Swim MDW sale, so I can double-down on all of the aforementioned!
  • Following so much allllll-inclusive eating, I am re-introducing my beloved Green Goddess salad for a little digestive help. Not a typical shopping list item but alas very helpful with warm-weather outfits!
  • I’ve been doing a lot of Pilates at a stunning studio that is a historic mansion converted into a wellness center. The springboard classes absolutely kick my ass, so I might as well look good while getting tortured. Back in March, I went on a quick tear through SET Active on Bleeker St. (former Intermix space— sobs) and stumbled on a great bra/bottoms combo that rang up for less than $70! Pretty sure I should re-order in this very chic deep red for all my upcoming teasers.

Ok darlings, it’s almost timeeee! It’s almost May— it’s almost summer! We made it, we did it, we’re on the way! Oh Lord, I’m getting that pre-June fever. Watch out, world! Xx

  1. Gah vibe perfectly captured! Take us back- could redo this trip over and over. And as always after time with you, I’m completely re-inspired to keep the vibe going here in dreary Scotland.
