Proportion Perfection

As a textbook Libra, I am constantly craving balance. I swear by symmetry and live for the philosophy of quid pro quo.

Therefore, when I spotted these street stylistas with their impeccable proportions, the scales of my sign swooned! The common denominator between these images is their perfect balance of short and long, skin and cloth, exposed and covered.

  1. Love the monochromatic palette…and girlfriend got legsssssssssss! I would duplicate this look with a cozy knit and this adorable wool bell skirt. Throw on a skinny belt to complete the chic ensemble.
  2. While both girls are rockin’ individually impeccable MOD (Model On Duty) looks, it is side-by-side that their outfits look wonderfully proportional. Anja’s barely-there on bottom plays perfectly against her sidekick’s to-the-floor maxi. So, grab your best gal-pal and create style balance!
  3. Something about the off-ness of this ensemble is just so…on! The juxtaposition of the chunky scarf with the bare leg and that rusty-red cardi against cobalt heels is so thoughtlessly thoughtful. Make like Lady #3 and pair opposites for a “What, this old thing?” moment.
  4. Three words- Rocker.Chick.Chic. Love the subtly strong shoulder, sleek pony and classic aviators. This will be my uniform when I am a famously sought-after stylist, living in carefree LA; not giving a dammmmmnnn if my hemline is daytime or whether a studded clutch really should double as a briefcase.
  5. So much stripey goodness in one shot! This look is classic, but not boring. The cherry-red satchel provides the perfect pop of color against basic black/white, while the black patent Loubs up the sophistication ante molto! Returning to the proportion portion, how amazing is that subtle sleeve peeking out at the wrist?
  6. Trends abound in this final ensemble, but damn does it look soooo good! The lightweight suede vest barely obscures a jangle of charm necklaces, while a chic shoe/boot hybrid peeks from behind a to-there slitted skirt. And the A.Wang Rocco bag? Well, we all know how Mimi’s been done felt about that!

Whether in the sweaty depths of summer or the freeeeeeezing feel of winter, this balance is always in season. So HighEnders, seek thee chicquilibrium ;)
