Things That Worked This Week, Vol 2.

Look at me! Back at it for Volume 2! It was so nice to reflect on the little things that brought some joy going into Valentine’s Day weekend. There were a few more anxious moments, and I worked out a bit too much and maybe drank a tad too much caffeine, but I’m still plugging away at it in 2025 <3

  • Quince branches in my entryway from a favorite local flower shop. Like me, they just keep blooming! (I had to!)
  • Speaking of flowers, I took a chance during a 70 degree pre-tornado moment to dig leaves out of pots and grace my heart for those little peeks of spring. God willing, my bratty hydrangeas will actually bloom, and I am dying with anticipation for the first shaggy white peony!
  • I accidentally watched the entire 50 Years of SNL Music documentary, and it was spectacular! Co-directed by Questlove, it’s a love letter to music, New York City and the power of a really good laugh.
  • Two big beauty discoveries– Clarins’ Instant Depuffing Mask is magic! I have used it twice ahead of nights out and cannot even fathom how it can snatch your jawline in 10 minutes. It is cashhhhyyy, so wait for it to go on Ulta/Sephora sale. A buy now item is Summer Friday’s Jet Lag Mist– it gives unbelievable glow from one spritz. I literally bought it after seeing a woman spray herself into spectacularly dewy skin at Sephora. Don’t drink coffee for 4 days and treat yourself!
  • Mind Magic by neuroscientist Dr. James Doty. I started this book back in the fall, and between travel and mini existential crises, it took me till this past week to finish. Every other page is highlighted and marked up. Doty’s method has been a wonderful reminder that manifesting is the most inside job of all.
  • Polly Vernon’s hot take on the Ozempic craze rocked my brain (and Addie’s) big time! I won’t spoil the punchline, but it’s a must-read.
  • Stumbled into a Mad Men marathon, and gooodness gracious it is phenomenal. My hot take, Don Draper is hotter and messier and much more of a Dick than I remember from my first watch. Also, sadly, so much culturally and politically has not changed at all in 60+ years. Human evolution has never been swift.
  • I know we’re not shopping but how wonderful is this suede cutie from COS? This is a high street brand that rarely fails, and I have already mentally paired the Cavatelli clutch with several outfits, including new Slvrlake denim, a really great white tee and my favorite sapphire pendant from Dorsey.

Ok, that’s what’s working this week. Love ya, mean it! Xx

  1. I’ve been wanting to rewatch Mad Men! Also, just added Mind Magic to my list – excited to read! I heard him on Mel Robbin’s podcast and have been meaning to get his book.
